About the Tommy G Thompson Charity

TGT Charity, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity formed in honor of Governor and Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, the longest-serving Governor of the State of Wisconsin and the 19th Secretary of the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Our History

In 2003, a group of former staffers of Wisconsin Governor Tommy G. Thompson (1987-2001) wanted to gather former staff and friends together for a reunion and golf outing. What began as a one time reunion quickly became a yearly event. With increased participation, interest grew in forming a charity to celebrate and further promote the legacy of Governor Thompson through charitable endeavors. TGT Charity, Inc. was formed in 2006. TGT Charity, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax exempt organization. Our strategic interest is supporting students studying in the health care field.

Our Mission

The mission of the Charity is to benefit individuals who choose to study and work in the health care field, by sustaining programs and education endeavors. The Charity funds scholarship programs in partnership with Wisconsin Colleges and Universities. Funds raised by the Charity help to provide resources for health related education and training. Generous event sponsorships made by individuals, corporations, and foundations play a vital role in fulfilling the mission of TGT Charity, Inc.

Our Vision

TGT Charity, Inc. is dedicated to further promote the policies, vision and legacy of former Wisconsin Governor and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson through a charitable organization named in his honor.
